Dr. Didem Pekün at KHAS Radio, Television and Cinema Department
17 August 2021Dr. Didem Pekün joins the academic staff of the Faculty of Communication, Radio, Television and Cinema Department as a Visiting Lecturer in the new academic year.
Didem Pekün’s work explores both artistic research and practice; conceptually, it deals with the production of subjectivities within violent geographies, displacement, and the different forms they take on-screen. Her studio practice includes documentaries and video installations, has screened internationally, and received awards. She is a founding member of the Center for Spatial Justice (MAD).
She holds a BA in Music at SOAS, an MA in Documentary at Goldsmiths, and a practice-based PhD from Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths. After being a faculty member at Media and Visual Arts Department at Koç University, a Research Fellow at Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths, and a Teaching Fellow at CEU, Budapest, she was a Fellow at the Berlin Center for Advanced Studies in Arts and Sciences (BAS) at UdK between 2019-2021.
